Leases
What to do if you’ve inherited farm land?
What’s the best way to keep your land in your family?
What are your lease options?
We are very fortunate to have long term farming relationships with many great land owners. Our goal is to treat every acre we farm as if it were our own. If you own farm land or recently inherited farm land in our area, we would welcome the opportunity to dicuss ways we can work with you to maximize returns from your land while preserving your farm for future generations.
Types of leases we offer:
Crop Share - The time-honored arrangement, where the land owner and farmer share the risks and rewards of crop production equally. Our grain and fertilizer facilities give us the opportunity to pass savings on to our crop share land owners.
Flex Rent - With the extreme volatility in commodity prices and weather in the recent past, a set rent amount often leaves the land owner (or the farmer) with less than a fair return on the crop. A flex lease can be written, based on bench-marked yields and prices, that help ensure both parties receive a fair return on the crop regardless of changing conditions.
Cash Rent - This system has become very prevalent over the last 20 years. Many land owners prefer the comfort of knowing exactly how much return to expect from their farm land while not being involved in any of the crop management.
